The Great Dragon in the Sky. . .

. . .ate the moon last night. You can see the dragon wakes in the stars it move with it's tail.

Or

The moon passed into the earth's shadow last causing an eclipse.

I may be a romantic here but which story is more romantic, and a more fun story. I bet most of you liked the dragon one better.

Not to long ago the dragon story (or something like it) would be a common explanation for the phenomena that is called an eclipse. As with most mythologies, the steady progress of science has wiped it out.

I am not really a luddite but I do mourn the passing of superstition, myths and mystery that science has destroyed.

And now what do we have to take the place of the myths, not much from where I stand. We have silly and facetious idol worship through tabloid media, we have plastic myths like Pokemon that are created solely for the sole purpose of dividing us from our money and plenty of neon with nothing behind them.
