Under the Grace of Saint Snoopy

When my mother moved from Iowa to Arizona, her and her friends had a little rubber Snoopy doll on their dashboard like a saint to help on their travels and they called it Saint Snoopy. I was born in Arizona so as a kid I used to think that I was born with the help of Saint Snoopy.

This is the true measure of the Peanuts influence on our lives. I am more than willing to bet that everyone has a similar story about Peanuts influencing their lives.

One decent man influenced us all with a little story of Lucy, Linus, Snoopy and Charlie Brown. This is the true measure of the loss we have experienced this weekend with the passing of Charles Schulz.

One of the last fears Mr. Schulz had was that he would be forgotten. So to honor his memory we all should take a little time out and remember our Peanuts stories and send them to heaven.

Here is another one: I remember the very first movie I ever cried at, "Snoopy Come Home". I was about 6-7 at the time and I first cried when Snoopy got lost. But at the end cried even more because I was happy Snoopy came home. I still get a little emotional when I see that movie.

Thanks Sparky for the laughter and the tears.

"Why do musicians compose symphonies and poets write poems? They do it because life wouldn't have any meaning for them if they didn't. That's why I draw cartoons. It's my life.''
